Glyph of Warding AD&D 1e

I decided to look at a couple different editions of our Dungeon Master’s Guides and Player’s Handbook for Dungeons & Dragons as to casually see the similarities and differences, this is one that popped out to me. The cooperative nature of dealing with the Glyph of Warding I found interesting, in that you need a Cleric to identify and a Magic User to attempt to remove it. By the time we get to 5e the players are creating these instead of just the DM. I just thought this was an interesting shift. Also look at the suggestion of language associations to symbols also now missing from 5e. Now in 5e it is all codified and listed out the types of glyphs, the damage but no suggested symbols or sounds. Just something to think about modern DMs, what should PCs know and be able to do, and do they need to work together to deal effectively with such a trap?
