Flying Saucers!
I bought some toy space ships and I painted the flying saucers for use in tactical battles. Washed them with warm soapy water.
This was followed by Silver. After that dried I did do a Black Wash on one saucer but decided the look was not what I wanted, so I cleaned the wash off, touched up painted that saucer and instead went back over all the saucers with Dolphin to highlight parts of the ship. I wanted all three colors of Aqua, Dolphin and Silver to be visible to create the desired effect I want.
Next I painted the light details. I decided to work with Red, Orange, and Yellow as Red-Orange is the opposite colour on the colour wheel to Aqua. I painted Orange first then added Red and finally the Yellow. I did test paint one ship using dots and streaks of white on the areas painted Orange/Red/Yellow... but again I did not like the look at all, so I painted over the white. Then I decided to paint the top holes as running light colours... so front the bow is White, left or port is Red, right or starboard is Green, and as they are saucers I did not want to use White again so I used Yellow. I know they are alien ships so would not use Human navigation lights but we humans playing with need visual aids. The space race I plan to have zipping about in flying saucers is colour blind so they see things like us watching a Black and White film so I am pretty sure Red and Green look the same to them.
